Hi, I’m Lily. I have a good friend, and her name is Alice. She’s a helpful girl. We go to school from Monday to Friday. We have four classes in the morning and two in the afternoon. I like Thursdays. We have music on Thursdays. I can sing songs in the music class. Alice likes Fridays. We have English on Fridays. Our English teacher is Miss Green. She speaks English well. She is very pretty and kind. We have lunch at school. My favourite food is salad. It’s healthy. Alice likes sandwiches. They’re delicious. We often play ping-pong on the weekend.

There was a camel and a goat. The camel was taller and stronger than the goat. One day, they went out to play. At noon, they were hungry. The camel was taller, so he could eat the leaves of the trees. The goat was shorter, so he couldn’t. The camel laughed at (嘲笑) the goat. He thought the goat was too short. The goat was sad and then he found some fresh grass in a yard. There was a small door in the wall. He went through the door and ate the grass happily. The camel wanted to eat the grass, too. He couldn’t go through the door because he was too tall. This time the camel was unhappy. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses. We should find our strengths and we shouldn’t laugh at others’ weaknesses.

I’m Wang Gang. I’m an English teacher. I go to work from Monday to Friday. I usually get up at 6:00 in the morning. Then I do morning exercises. I eat breakfast at 7:00. After breakfast I go to work. I usually have two classes in the morning and one in the afternoon. I usually play sports at 4:00 p.m. I go home at 5:30 p.m. After dinner I usually watch TV and read books. Then I go to bed at 10:00 p.m. What about you?

I’m Chen Jie. My birthday is July 20th. I usually get up early on my birthday. I am very excited. Usually I have a birthday party. We have a big dinner and eat a birthday cake and ice cream. We sing, dance, watch TV and play games at the party. My parents and friends give me many presents. I don’t go to school on my birthday, because summer vacation is in July and August. In the evening, my family and I go to the beach and we play in the sea. I always have fun on my birthday.

On Sunday, my family and I went for a ride in a hot air balloon(热气球). Early in the morning, we went to a park outside the city. There was a big blue and white balloon on the grass. We met the pilot(飞行员) and the other passengers(乘客).

The fire made the air hot. The hot air went into the balloon and soon the balloon took off(起飞). We all stood in a big basket beneath(在……之下) the balloon and went up into the sky. It was exciting. The weather was very good. The wind wasn’t strong. We floated(漂浮) over the beautiful city in the basket. I loved looking down at the city. We could see all the buildings, roads and parks. We could see the river too.

We stayed up in the air for one hour. Everyone had a wonderful time!

What do we know about the sea? We know that it looks very pretty when the sun is shining on it. We also know that it can be very rough when there is a strong wind. What else do we know about it?

The first thing to remember is that the sea is very big. If you look at map of the Earth, you will find there is more water than land. The sea covers about three quarters of the Earth.

The sea is also very deep in some places. It is not deep everywhere. Some parts of the sea are very shallow（浅的）. But in some places the sea is very deep. There is one spot, neat Japan, where the sea in nearly 11 kilometres deep! The highest mountain in the world is about 9 kilometres high . If that mountain were put into the sea at that place, there would be 2 kilometres of water above it! What a deep spot!

If you swim in the sea, you know that it is salty. You can taste the water. Rivers. Which flow into the sea, carry salt from the land into the sea. Some parts of the sea are saltier than other parts. There is one sea, called the Dead Sea, which is very salty. It is so salty that swimmers cannot sink! Fish cannot live in the Dead Sea!

Tom arrived at the bus station very early for the bus to Paris. The bus for Paris would not leave until five to twelve. He saw a lot of people waiting in the station. Some were standing in line（排队）, others were walking around. There was a group of students. Their teacher was trying to keep them in line. Tom looked around but there was no place for him to sit.

Tom walked into the station cafe and looked up at the clock there. It was only twenty to twelve. He found a seat and sat down before a large mirror（镜子）on the wall. Just then, Mike , one of Tom’s friends came in and sat with Tom.

“What time is your bus?”asked Mike.

“There’s enough time,”answered Tom.

“Well, I’ll get you some tea then, “said Mike.

They talked while drinking. Then Tom looked at the clock again,”Oh! It’s going backwards (倒行）!” he cried, “A few minutes ago it was twenty to twelve and now it’s half past eleven.”

“You’re looking at the clock in the mirror,” sand Mike. Tom felt sad. The next bus was not to leave for another four hours. From then on, Tom never liked mirrors.

A boy goes to the cinema. He buys a ticket(票) and goes in. But after two or three minutes(分钟), he comes out. He buys a second ticket and goes in again. After a few minutes, he comes out again and buys a third ticket. Two or three minutes after that, he comes out the third time and asks for another ticket. The ticket seller is puzzled(困惑的) and asks him, “Why did you buy all these? Did you meet friends in the cinema?” The boy says, “No, But a big man always stopped me at the door and tore(撕碎) my tickets up. ”
