Every day, the sun rises up and goes down. Then the moon rises up and goes down. We can see the sun, the moon and the stars every day, and all of them are in the universe(宇宙). The sun is much bigger than the earth and the earth is much bigger than the moon. But sometimes we may feel that they are in the same size. It’s because the sun is far away from us, and the moon is our nearest neighbor.

At night, when you look up into the sky, you will see the moon. There is no water or air on it and nobody can live there. You may find the moon is bigger than the stars. But actually, some of the stars are even bigger than the sun.

Once upon a time, there was a frog. He lived in a well(井) and he never went out. He thought the sky was just as big as the mouth of the well.

One day, a bird was thirsty. She flew to this well and wanted to drink some water. The frog saw her and asked where she was from and how she came here. The bird said she was from the forest, and it was very far from here. It took her a long time to fly to this well. The frog couldn’t believe that. “What’s the forest? Besides, the sky is so small, and how can you fly for a long time?” The bird answered, “No, the sky is very big. And the world is also very very big. You should come out to see this. ”

The frog tried his best and finally he came out of the well. He was very surprised (吃惊的) and found that the world was really very big and he himself was very small.

There is a king. He likes writing stories, but his stories are not good. Because people are afraid of him, they all say his stories are good.

One day, the king shows his stories to a famous writer. He waits for the writer to praise these stories. But the writer says his stories are so bad that he should throw them into the bin(垃圾桶). The king gets very angry with him and sends him to prison(监狱).

After a month, the writer is free, Again the king shows him some of his new stories and asks what he thinks of them. After reading the stories, the writer at once turns to the soldiers(士兵) and says, “Take me back to prison, please.”

Mr Green goes to see his son in London. His son works in a music club. Mr Green doesn’t know London well. He can’t find his way.

He sees a woman at a bus stop. He wants to ask the way. “Excuse me ! Can you help me? Which bus goes to Miller’s Shop?” Mr Green asks.

The woman is very friendly. She smiles. But she can’t speak English. She can speak French (法语). She is new in London. She puts her hand into her coat and takes out a small book. She opens it and reads something on it. “I’m sorry, I can’t speak English.”

Many English people have four meals a day. They are breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. People have breakfast at about seven in the morning. They usually have milk, eggs and bread. English people also drink tea or coffee at breakfast. Lunch begins at about one o’clock in the afternoon. They often eat sandwiches and hamburgers. Fish and chips are their favourite food. Afternoon tea is often from four to five in the afternoon. People have dinner at about half past seven. First, they have soup. Then they have meat or fish with vegetables. After that, they eat some fruit, like bananas, apples or oranges.
