   Jim went to a beautiful beach on Monday with his friends. It was sunny and hot. So they had great fun playing in the water. They went shopping at 3:20 p.m. But the shops were crowded(拥挤的). They didn’t enjoy it.

The next day, it was rainy, so they went to a museum. It was boring. Jim found a small boy crying in the corner. The boy was lost. Jim helped the boy find his father. Jim was very happy. But he had no money to take a taxi. So he had to walk back to the hotel. That made him very tired.

On Wednesday, the weather was very cool, so they played tennis. They played all morning. It was really fun.

   Tom was ten years old. He was a lovely boy. One day, his friend Tim said to him, “I’m going to have a birthday party on Sunday. Can you come?”

Tom asked his mother and she said, “Yes, you can go.” Then she phoned Tim’s mother. Before Tom went to the party on Sunday afternoon, his mother said to him, “Tom, don’t forget to be polite. Don’t ask for food. Wait until someone gives it to you.”

“All right, Mum.” Tom answered. He wanted to go there by bike, but the bike was broken. So he walked to Tim’s home.

There were a lot of children at the party. They played together for an hour. Then Tim’s mother gave them some food, but she forgot to give Tom some. He waited politely for a few minutes, and then he held his plate up in the air and said loudly, “Does anyone want a nice clean plate?”

   When you are in Britain, you can often see people go out with umbrellas or raincoats on a sunny day. Why? Because the weather in Britain often changes quickly. The same weather doesn’t stay for long. People can experience (经历) four seasons in one day. In the morning, the weather is warm like in spring. After an hour, black hours come and then it rains. The weather gets cold. In the late afternoon, it is sunny. The sun begins to shine, and it is summer at this time of a day. The weather is always changing. How interesting it is!

   Last week, Mrs. Millie went to London. She does not know London very well, and she lost her way. Suddenly, she saw a man near a bus stop. "I can ask him the way," she said to herself, "Excuse me," she said. "Can you tell me the way to King Street, please?" The man smiled pleasantly. He didn't understand English! He was a tourist. Then he put his hand into his pocket (口袋), and took out a phrasebook. He opened the book and found a phrase. He read the phrase slowly. "I am sorry," he said. "I do not speak English."

   Bill and Fred were students at a school and they were friends. Last year, they spent their summer vacation together. One day they wanted to get up early to go fishing, but they didn’t have an alarm clock.

“That’s all right, Bill,” Fred said. “I’ll put some pieces of bread on the windowsill the house tonight and they’ll wake us up in the morning.” Bill was surprised.

Fred was right. Early in the next morning, small birds came down to eat the bread, and they woke Bill and Fred up very quickly.
