There was a boy playing in the park. He saw a big tree in the middle of the park with a sign on it. The sign said, “I’m a magic tree. Say the magic words and then the door will open. You will see more magic.” The little boy tried many words, but the door didn’t open.
The boy was tired of trying, so he cried, “Please, dear, open the door!” The tree was happy to hear “Please” from the boy’s mouth. So a big door opened in the trunk of the tree! The tree said, “Polite boys always say magic words.”

One day, Mr Read and his son went out for a walk. He put on a pair of shoes together with a pair of different socks, one white and one yellow. As he came out of his house, his son noticed (注意) the colours of his father’s socks and said: “You have put on two different socks, Dad.” Mr Read found his son was right. He was happy and said: “What a clever son, go back to the house to get another pair of socks for me.”
When the son went back, he could find one white sock and one yellow sock. Then he took the socks to his father: “It’s no use changing! These socks at home are also different, one yellow and one white.”
1．One day Mr Read and his daughter went out for a walk.A man was walking through a forest. He had a few caps in his hands. In the forest there were a lot of monkeys. It was hot, so he decided (决定) to have a rest under a tree. He put one cap on his head and lay down to sleep.
When he woke up, he couldn’t find his caps. “Where are my caps?” he cried and looked up. He saw some monkeys in the trees. Each had a cap on its head. “Give me my caps!” shouted the man to the monkeys. But the monkeys didn’t understand him. They only jumped, laughed and danced. “How can I get back my caps?” he thought hard. At last he had an idea. He took off his cap and threw it on the ground. The little animals did the same thing. Happily the man picked up all the caps and went on his way.
