At this moment, in different places of the world, people are doing different things.

In London, it’s five o’clock and people are leaving work and going home. They are waiting for buses and running for trains. Some people are driving their cars. Some are having afternoon tea at home or walking to pubs (酒吧) and having a drink.

In Moscow (莫斯科), it’s seven o’clock and people aren’t having afternoon tea. They are having dinner at home or in restaurants. Some are going to the opera or watching a ballet (芭蕾舞剧). Some are drinking in pubs.

In Beijing, it’s twelve o’clock. People are not having dinner. They are sleeping.

In Los Angeles (洛杉矶), it’s nine o’clock. People are not getting up, washing or getting dressed. They are working. Children are having their lessons.

In New York, it’s midday (正午). People aren’t working. They’re having lunch. They are eating hamburgers or hot dogs and drinking coffee or Coke. They’re meeting friends, calling home or shopping.

Today there are many problems between parents and children. Many people always ask "Why do we often argue (争论)? "

Parents show their love for children in different ways. They cook nice food and buy new clothes for them. They also care about their studies. Parents always say "You must work hard", "You should do your homework" and "You should do more maths exercises".

When children get bad marks (分数), their parents will get very angry. They stop their children from watching TV, playing games on the Internet or going outside until they do well in their studies.

Many children want to do things by themselves. They want to do something their parents dislike. They like pop music, basketball and other new things. They enjoy surfing the Internet and playing computer games. It takes them a lot of time to chat online. In their parents’ eyes, these take too much time. For these reasons, parents and children often argue.

My last New Year’s Day holiday

The Browns are the Smiths' neighbours. Mr Brown's name is John. But when his neighbours talk about him, they call him“Mr Going-to-do". Do you know why? Mr Brown always says he is going to do something, but he never does it.

Every Saturday Mr Brown goes to the Smiths' back door and talks to Mr Smith.

“I'm going to clean my house today,” he says, or “I'm going to wash my car tomorrow,” or “These trees in front of my house are too big. I'm going to cut them down next week.” But Mr Smith knows his neighbour isn't going to do these things.

Mr Smith often says to his only child Dick, “Are you going to do anything? Then do it.

What is recycling? It is to reuse everything that can be used again. Recycling is good to our Earth. Recycling also means doing everything we can do to prevent(阻止)the need for recycling. How do we do this? Here are some suggestions(建议)：　

1. If you bring your own bags with you to the shops, you won't need to use the bags of the shops. This will save bags before they need to be recycled.

2. Don't buy things that can be used only once. For example, you should use glass cups instead of(代替)paper cups.

3. Dress warmly in the cold season(季节) and use less heat. Dress in cool clothes during the warm season and reduce(减少)the use of air conditioners(空调).

4. Don't leave the fridge door open for a long time!
