One day, a man stole (偷) one of Washington's horses. Washington went to the man's home with a policeman to get back the horse. But the man didn't give the horse to Washington. He said it was his horse.
Washington put his hands over the horse's eyes quickly and said to the man, "If (如果) this was your horse, tell us which of its eyes is blind (瞎的)."
"The right eye!" the man said. Washington took his hand off from the horse's right eye and showed the policeman that the horse's right eye was good.
"Oh, sorry. I made a mistake (错误)" said the man. "Its left eye is blind." Washington took his hand off from the horse's left eye. It was not blind either.
"I made a mistake again, "said the man.
"Yes," said the policeman." And you know the horse is not yours. You must give it back to Washington."
