Tom’s grandfather bought Tom a bird last month. He liked it very much. He kept it in a small cage (鸟笼). He gave it water and food every day. However (然而), the bird wasn’t happy. It never sang songs. Tom was sad.

The ostrich（蛇鸟）is the largest bird in the world. They live in North Africa（北非洲）and Australia. An ostrich is very heavy, nearly three hundred pounds. It is about two metres tall. It has strong legs. They can eat those that cannot be eaten by other animals and birds.
