Do you have a pet? Is it a dog or a cat or a fish? A British lady (英国女士) has a special one—a big lizard (蜥蜴)! It must be very cool to walk such a pet in the street. Lots of families in England have one or two pets. Dogs are their favourite pets and there are about 6,000,000 of them in England. The second favourite are cats and the third favourite is a bird—budgie (虎皮鹦鹉). The English people take good care of their pets. They give them nice names: Rex, Cindy, Misty (for dogs); Albert, Snowy, Tom (for cats); Guy, Scamper, Shipley (for monkeys). When they speak of their pets, they say “He” “She”, not “It”. The English people also give them nice food to eat. They buy food for their pets in pet shops. The English people are pet lovers!

Charlie is an English boy. He studies in a university in London. Last winter holiday, he took a trip in China. It was great fun!
On the first day, he flied to Beijing. He went ice-skating (滑冰) in Shichahai Ice Rink (冰场). He fell down for several times, but luckily he didn't hurt. On the second day, he took the No. 877 bus to the Badaling Great Wall. He climbed the Great Wall and took a lot of pictures there. On the third day, he visited the Palace Museum in the morning and Beihai Park in the afternoon. The museum was amazing and the park was beautiful.
On the fourth day, Charlie went to Hangzhou by high speed train. He took a subway to the West Lake and ate a lot of delicious food in Louwailou restaurant. He rode a bike around the lake and bought some Hangzhou silk (丝绸) and Longjing green tea as gifts for his family.
On the fifth day, he went to Sanya by plane. It was hot and sunny in Sanya. The water was warm. He went to the beach to surf (冲浪) and swam. He enjoyed the sunshine and the fresh fruits there very much. After that, he came back home. What a wonderful holiday!
