I have a good friend. Her name is Mary. She is an English girl. She often helps her mother do the housework. What can she do? Do you know? She can make dumplings, cook vegetables and sweep the floor. Now we are listening to music. She likes music. She can play the flute. We often play together.

Look at the photo. This is my grandma. She is fat and she doesn't play basketball well now. In the past, she was good at basketball. She ran very fast，jumped really high and passed the ball well. Now she isn't good at those things, .

We can not live a modern life without traveling. The fastest way of traveling is by air. With a plane one can travel in one day to places which it took a month or more to get to a hundred years ago.

Traveling by train is slower than by plane, but one can see the country he is traveling through. Modern trains have comfortable seats and dinning-cars. They make even the longest journey enjoyable.

Some people prefer to travel by sea when possible. There are large luxury liners (客轮) or river boats. They are not as fast as trains or planes, but traveling by sea is a very pleasant way to spend a holiday.

Many people like to travel by car. They can make their own timetable. They can travel hundreds of miles or only fifty miles a day, just as their wish. They can stop wherever they want to see something interesting or to enjoy a good meal at a good restaurant, or to spend the night at a hotel. That is why people choose traveling by car for pleasant trips, while they usually take trains or planes for business.

A: I love learning English. Next year, I want to make a lot of progress in English. I hope I can get good scores on all my English exams.

Kate wants to be in her school football team, but she can’t run fast. She doesn’t play well. However (可是), Kate can jump high! She can catch the ball well. She is very good at basketball. Kate is a fantastic basketball player.

Last weekend, Sam got an email from Lingling. She wrote, “I had a picnic yesterday. I rowed a boat with my friends. We saw lots of kites in the sky. The big one looks like the Great Wall. It’s very interesting. Then we ate some delicious food. Finally, we took photos with the camera. We had a great time.”

A young boy is playing with a ball in the street. He kicks（踢）it too hard, and it breaks the window of a house and falls inside. A lady comes to the window with the ball and shouts at the young boy. So the young boy runs away. But he still wants his ball back.

A few minutes later, he returns and knocks at the door of the house. When the lady answers, he says, “My father’s going to come and fix your window soon.”

Then a man comes to the door with tools in his hands. So the lady lets the boy take his ball away.

When the man finishes fixing the window, he says to the lady, “That will cost you ten.”

“But aren’t you the father of the young boy?” the woman asks, looking surprised. “Of course not,” he answers, “aren’t you his mother?”
