Arbor Day

In America, people celebrate（庆祝） Arbor Day in April. This annual（每年的）holiday encourage（鼓励）people to plant and care for trees.

I received a tree seedling（幼苗）on Arbor Day when I was 7 years old. My parents helped me plant the little tree in our front yard（院子）. I was so proud of it! 25 years later, I an still proud when I see it! Now it is a tall tree.

America isn’t the only country to have a tree planting day. Korea and other countries, also have hold a national（国家的）tree planting festival.

I am Jack Brown. I’m an American boy from New York. I study in Jinling Primary School now. My father is an engineer（工程师）. My mother is a maths teacher. I have many friends in China.

My favourite festival is Christmas Day. Last Christmas Day, I opened the presents under the Christmas tree. Dad gave me a telescope（望远镜）. That is my favourite present. And I got a calculator（计算器）from my mum. From my grandpa and grandma, I got some stamps and a yo-yo. And we had a good time that day.

The Australia seasons are different from Chinese seasons. When it’s spring in China, it is autumn in Australia. Australia is in the south（南部）of the Earth. June, July and August are the winter months. It’s not cold in winter. People in Australia wear jackets in the morning and T-shirts at noon. Summer is in December, January and February. It’s very hot there. People like going swimming.

Near the North Pole（北极）there are two seasons. The winter nights are long. For more than two months, you can’t see the sun, even（甚至）at noon. The summer days are long too. For more than two months, the sun never sets（落下）, and there is no night.

Hi, my name is Sue. There are many interesting days in a year. New Year’s Day is on January 1^st. I often go to the park on New Year’s Day. Women’s Day is on March 8^th. I often make a card for my mother. National Day is on October 1^st. I am very happy on this day. Because I can visit my grandparents. Do you know Christmas Day? It’s on December 25^th. On that day, I can get some gifts from my parents and friends. Children’s Day is my favourite day. It is in June. I can sing, dance and play gaes on Children’s Day.

Each team has about thirty members. And there is a man beating the drum（敲鼓）on the boat. It’s an exciting race, especially（特别是）when they are reaching the finishing line. The audience（观众）beside the lake shout for their favourite teams. From this match, we have the name of the festival—the Dragon Boat Festival.

This festival has another name——Duanwu Festival. It has a story. The story is about a poet called Qu Yuan. And people often eat rice dumplings at this festival to memorialize（纪念）him.
