“Mum, I’m home!” Alice calls as she puts her schoolbag on the floor.
“I’m thirsty. May I have some juice?”
“Hello, my girl,” Mum calls in her study. “There is milk in the fridge. Help yourself.”
“I don’t want milk!” Alice said, “Can I have blueberry juice?”
“No, Alice. Every time you have some juice after school, you don’t eat your dinner.” Says Mum.
Alice is angry. “I’m not going to have milk today. Mum is busy working. I can find any juice I like.”
Alice looks in the fridge. She sees a bottle. There is a picture of some cherries on it.”
“Wow, cherry juice.” She opens it and drinks half of the bottle. “This is really tasty. She feels excited. Soon the bottle is empty.
She feels hot. “Mum I feel sick.” She cries.
Her mum comes out, “What’s the matter, honey? Your face is red and hot. You have a fever!”
Suddenly, she sees the bottle on the tea table. She asks Alice, “Can you read the writing on it?”
“Cherry Wine.” Alice is worried and begins to cry.
“Don’t worry, drink a lot of water and you’ll feel better soon. Next time watch carefully before drinking or eating.” Mum tells her.
