Mum is a lovely lady. She is pretty and clever. But most of all, she’s kind. | |
A long time ago, we lived in a small house. It didn’t need to be big—there was just Mum and me. We didn’t have a television. We just had a radio. | It was OK, but I wanted to watch programmes like my friends. One day, I made a fuss. Mum didn’t say anything. But she hadn’t got enough money for a television. |
The next day when I got home from school, Mum told me she was going to be busy for a few days and wouldn’t be at home. I was very surprised. | Grandma came to stay with me while mum was away. She tried to keep me busy. We played many games and do many things. She was really kind but I missed mum. |
Mum was away for nearly a month. Finally, I got home from school one day and she was there. | Mum pointed to the corner of the room. There was a tiny television on a table. I couldn’t believe my eyes! |
Mum had taken an extra job so that she could pay for it. “Thanks, Mum!” | We have a big house now. It is fill with many nice things. |
But that tiny television is still is still in the corner of the room. I wouldn’t change it for anything. | And I would never ever change … my mum! |
